IEETA researchers Bernardo Marques, Beatriz Sousa Santos, and Paulo Dias (DETI/UA) received the “New Frontiers in Engineering” award for their article “Ten years of immersive education: Overview of a Virtual and Augmented Reality course at postgraduate level,” published in Computers & Graphics (Nov 2024).
The paper reviews a decade of a Virtual and Augmented Reality postgraduate course at UA, delivered to 200+ students, detailing curriculum design, assessment methods, technologies and infrastructures (including the VAR Lab), selected projects, and the pedagogical challenges of a rapidly evolving field.
The award distinguishes impactful contributions to engineering education by higher education faculty in Portugal’s Central Region and underscores IEETA’s leadership in innovative, research-informed teaching.
